I really don't. Is there a set number of movies in each tier? Are we throwing away the rest?

No, just trying to place what I just saw as far as quality goes.

I’ll add that the movie barely moves the MCU needle forward unless the character at the end becomes added to the MCU permanently, which, I think, is hard but would be amazing.

That really is a terrible, scattershot list.

I still think Infinity War is the best MCU movie, edging out Endgame and No Way Home.

The rest of the films, with the exception of Civil War, seem so quaint by comparison now.

I mean, Black Panther needs to be up there somewhere pretty high

I can go back and rewatch almost all of them at this point and really enjoy them, especially with the stories tying together fairly well.

I have a tough time ranking them in part because of all this, one day something sticks out to me and I think, hmm, that puts it higher up. Then it changes later on.

That said, in no particular order, End Game, Infinity War, No Way Home, Winter Soldier and Civil War. The rest fall where they may.

Yeah, with a couple of notable exceptions (Dark World, Eternals, Iron Man 3) I think you'd have a hard time finding any that are less than at least solid B or B+. The handful that you mention surged well above that, a few (Dark World, Eternals, Iron Man 3) seem to have sagged below it, and most are in the A- range.
They found the formula and have somehow mined it for going on 15 years without it getting truly stale — which makes other companies' failed attempts at universe-building even more stunning. Marvel found a way to tie together a dozen different characters, franchises and sequels with barely a miss, while DC, Universal and a few others haven't been able to sustain it with even two or three.

I think part of it was realizing that some sort of formula can work without it getting stale because there is so much source material. Of course, the same is true of DC, but they can't seem to get their acts together.

They also adjusted at times when something wasn't working, such as in the Thor movies. The first one was decent. The Dark World was crap. They learned. They abandoned a style that wasn't really working and saw what worked elsewhere. You can see some of what worked in Guardians of the Galaxy in Thor: Ragnarok.

Just got back from Love and Thunder. Thought it was a pretty good time and fun. Also refreshing in some way that it was under two hours, although with credits, barely so. Not sure at all where it fits into anything. Starting to see that kind of question with Phase Four in general, but surely we didn't know how early MCU stuff was going to tie all together either. So none of that worries me right now.

Saw Thor: Love and Thunder with my wife and daughter this afternoon. Honestly, we were all disappointed. My wife even dozed off at one point. Parts of it are fun. There are a few good laughs. Hemsworth and Portman play off each other better than they did in the first two movies. Bale does good work, as usual, though the tone of his character seems to be all over the place. Stretches of the movie feel the same way.

It's not bad, but it is clearly in the bottom third of MCU movies.
