I loved the music of Billy Stewart. I wonder if that clip comes from The Raiders' TV show, "Happening '68." Here's one by Etta James that definitely is from that show ... observe the enthusiasm of the audience.

As for summer songs, here's my favorite.

I've heard a million basslines. This is one of the greatest.

In the song, Tequila by the Del
Tortes, how many times is tequila mentioned?

That whole album (and Netflix documentary) is great. Jakob Dylan and a slew of 1990s/2000s singers covering some mid-1960s pop gems.

I find a lot to like in this one, behind the obvious Willie and Lyle.

This is a song LL wrote, and Willie cut on his sublime “Across the Borderline” album. I was listening to a podcast lately and they talked about how this album helped pull Willie out of a bad trajectory - he’d been the butt of late night jokes with his IRS issues. He was on trajectory to be a legacy/Branson type artist, and this album, produced by Don Was, helped correct that.

Bonus points to Lyle for wearing a FFA jacket from his hometown.

I’ve heard Lyle talk about how much Willie cutting two of his songs meant to him, and I think that you can feel that in this performance. I love the way he backs off on harmony for Willie.

One of my favorite 90s tunes a one-hit wonder based around a 1920s trumpet riff (also featured in a recent Dua Lipa song)

When we were in Austria we ate at a restaurant in Falco’s hometown, outside of Vienna
The foyer was a shrine to Falco, with all kinds of pictures and tributes

    That's a true classic!

This was apparently recorded in one take, during a jam session, and never was meant to be released.
