They put a lot of stuff on Peacock. But unless you are "doing" an in-house fantasy platform - I don't see the point either.

Thinking about it, it makes even less sense. NBC's main NFL coverage airs later in the day. Would they add a pre-noon pregame show like the other networks to take advantage of actually being able to use Berry? Using him on Peacock, I mean, sure, go ahead. Not really a step up for Berry, tho.

He left the Post in 2004. The height of the newspaper war was over, but it was still cats and dogs going at it.

    This fucking guy.

“I want you to get what you need,” he told the photographer. “I hope I never f---ing see them. I don’t need any more attention.”

This was remarkable to me. What was Schefter's reaction to having his contacts annihilated?

When Schefter’s NFL Network contract came up, the sides played hardball. Schefter signed a new deal with ESPN, but NFL Network wouldn’t let him out of his contract. Instead, it kept him off the air for six months, locked him out of his office and, worst of all, wiped all of his contacts from his phone. Before he could break any news in his new job, he had to rebuild his contacts.

ESPN loves people who "drive" content, say something, report something that can carry web traffic and the TV and radio talk fests for a cycle or two. SAS, Kendrick Perkins, Schefter, Woj - THAT is their value.

Never used a company phone for this very reason. My absolute nightmare…also, for you young journalists out there, keep a hard copy/word document/spreadsheet of your contacts somewhere safe and take time to update it every six months or so.

Definitely keep a hard copy somewhere. Home, travel bag, vehicle. Backups are helpful.

All of us Olds on here likely had a Rolodex or two, perhaps one for home and office, with every name, address and possible number on them for contacts. Home, office, hangouts, friends, some likely had the number of a guy's "niece" or "cousin from Kansas" on there. Whatever it was, whatever the number, you kept it. Unless the number was disconnnected you didn't scratch it out or remove it.

My last gig, I had a card file and a notebook with names-addresses-numbers printed out. Had a second notebook for home and travel. Threw them away recently because most of the people in there are dead or retired.

    Losing those would've sucked.
