A man who won an election with fewer than 300,000 votes controls all 300,000,000+ million of us.

But he saved a much tinier number of local jobs, so, contra Hillary, win-win.

I don't see it that way at all about him controlling all of us. That is how representative democracy works. He has one vote. Same as 99 other Senators. 51 (50 not named Joe Manchin) of whom won't vote for that $3.5 trilllion turned into a $1.75 trillion abomination.

What the people all upset about it don't get is that the economic misery that is going to be the next decade for us is because of the combo of decades of fiscal reckleness and monetization of the debt (that kicked the can down the road), whose bill is starting to come due. At this point, anything they do is going to 1) be hyperinflationary, 2) create even more malinvestment as we are likely heading into a no-growth economic environment, which has become a giant anchor on our economy and our standards of living.

The last thing we should be doing is pouring gasoline on the fire, whether that is the reason Joe Manchin or the other 50 Senators who won't get on board are not voting for it or not.

You're wrong. And you're wrong because the Senate is broke. You're wrong because one party in this country has decided that the only thing that matters is their party. Once upon a time ago, when there was actually bipartisan cooperation, Manchin would not be the lynch pin that controlled the Senate. Today, he is.
