    Shutter Island.
Teddy/Andrew comes back, but couldn’t deal with what he’d done and basically volunteered to be lobitomized.

    Dr. Strangelove - We’ll Meet Again…

Okay, maybe that wasn’t deceptive nor subtle, but the original ending of the movie was a huge pie fight in the War Room. And it was actually filmed, but cut.

Close Encounters of the Third Kind. The aliens had kidnapped air force pilots and the like from years before, now returned them at the age they were when they were taken. What the hell happens to those guys now? All their relatives are either really old or dead. They just get to hang at the VFW?

Is the same fate awaiting Richard Dreyfuss when they drop him back off in 50 years?

As usual, TV Tropes has a whole page of "uh shit" moments if you think about the aftermath of movies. Some good ones from that page - In "Batman," he cuts loose a bunch of balloons with chemicals in them, which will eventually spill or fall on some other city, forest or waterway, and also blows up a chemical plant.

In "Gravity," Bullock makes it back to Earth, but it's probably on the brink of societal collapse thanks to destruction of satellite systems.

Day After Tomorrow, when the mostly-white American heartland finds itself suddenly thrust into the role of refugee spread throughout Central America.

I'm sure that's going to go well.

In Halloween 4 and 5, the entire Haddonfield police department is savagely murdered except for the sheriff and a couple of deputies; rebuilt within a year; and then completely wiped out again.
Who the hell are they recruiting to work for the Haddonfield PD after that?

I remember the part where Robert Loggia tells the Morse coders to spread the word on bringing the aliens down and thinking do they have to wait for the aliens to try to fire their big weapon and for some poor volunteer to fly their plane into the laser? And why wouldn’t the aliens adjust and not open up the big weapon?

I wonder, did Josh ever explain to his parents what happened when he returns home?

“Hey Mom, remember that guy in the Giants shirt that you chased out out of the house with a knife? That was me!”

And also, Josh already knows about sexual intercourse with a woman. Does he grow up in adolescence caring about inexperienced teenage girls?

And what about the subtle Satanism running through the whole movie? The Zoltar machine was obviously the devil's work.

More Die Hard, did they ever explain whose half-bil in bearer bonds they were stealing? A lot of the outcomes of these movies where a big corporation (whether it was a shell for an evil corp. or not) gets exposed/ blow up would have major repercussions on the economy putting thousands of people out of work.
