One thing these hearings have shown even the dimmest politicians is how utterly useless standard Congressional hearings have become for reaching the public at large. Stacked up next to this it looks like community theatre trying to sell tickets on Broadway.

So expect Republicans to take the exact wrong lesson next year and develop special committees that are their side only “investigating” whatever bugbears come to mind and to hell with regular procedure. Democrats will suck their thumb about “credibility” but it will be all over the media the Fascist 40% watches and the wildest clips will break through into the mainstream.
