I have no use for organized religion, but I admire this man.

He's been a spokesperson for hope. I worry about him.

How much of a check did he write to the families of the deceased and their community?

Okay then, Justin, quit acting like you're scared of hurting their feefees. It was proven that the bulk of the people screaming at your flock on social media (and sometimes leading online Episcopal/Anglican Communion groups) about Bishop Curry "giving us our marching orders" were working from Russian troll farms. START LISTENING TO ACTUAL COMMUNICANTS! Halleluiah, holy shit, where's the Stonehaus Blush?

Obviously Rome has a lot more to do here, and the Vatican bureaucracy, but I think Francis is an admirable man doing a hard thing.

The Catholic Church, for its part, has paid over $50 million and intends to add $30 million more over the next five years.

I didn’t know the pope was 85 and if limited mobility. Steve Bannon, who has spent the past few years trying to get him killed, should probably hang tight.

Francis has expressed his approval of the decision of his predecessor Benedict to retire, saying if he himself felt he could no longer fulfill the physical demands of the job, he would also step down.
Leading to the possibility we could have multiple popes emeritus.
Since JP II was 84 when he died, Francis could establish an unofficial retirement age of 85 if he were to step down.
