This sucks. Poor kid blew out his elbow 10 pitches into his second major-league start and probably won't be back until 2024.

Translation: If it becomes an issue in the playoffs, he will most likely do it. If not, he'll continue to be stupid about it.

Yankees still short one or two starters and relief help.

This tends to refute a report that the Jays were interested.
You’ve got to be 14 days past your last shot to get into Canada. So if he gets the one-shot variety, he has until Sept. 11 or so to swallow his Trumpist pride and do the right thing for his teammates. It’s far from certain that the Yanks will have the best record. So that matters even though the division is secure.

Who's the better player statistically: Max Scherzer or Nolan Ryan?

First surprise is that Ohtani is available for trade. The second is that he is in the second year of an $8.5 deal. "He's arbitration eligible next year and is in line to reach free agency after the 2023 season."

Why is he getting paid relative peanuts? And why hasn't this been a bigger story? Ya hear plenty about Boegarts and Devers being FAs in 2023, but I haven't heard boo about Ohtani, the reigning MVP and a frontrunner with Judge this year. I've heard plenty about Judge's pending free agency.

Ohtani is a frontline pitcher and a premier slugger and he's making $4.25M per year? Who the fuck is his agent and why hasn't he been fired? That's absurd that he's making basically 1/10th of what Scherzer makes on a three year, $130 million deal.
