The key Black Sea port of Mykolaiv suffered on Sunday “one of the most brutal shellings” since the war began, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said, as dozens of Russian rockets destroyed homes, schools and infrastructure. Among those killed in the city was one of Ukraine’s richest business executives, who founded an agriculture company that helped facilitate the country’s grain exports.

Former general in the Australian army says that the Ukrainians are changing war in the 21st century. Interesting read.

That has been true for a long time and for campaigns far less worthy than the Ukraine.

I'm all for helping Ukraine, but at what point are we allowed to ask if there's any kind of oversight on the constant stream of money we're sending over there? I've heard the stat that this year alone we've already sent more to Ukraine than we spent on the first five years of the Afghanistan war and it doesn't seem like the fire hose is being turned off any time soon.

    You're not wrong.

Just like Afghanistan this is going to become one of those things where no President is going to want to take the political hit by being the one to cut off the flow of aid and letting Russia win.

I'm not sure how scrupulous the accounting is on the other end of that - I'm sure there's some drag from incompetence and corruption - but Ukraine is spending a huge amount of its budget defending itself.

EXCLUSIVE War forces Ukraine to divert $8.3 bln to military spending, tax revenue drops - minister
