Agreed. I can understand keeping Happ, who they have for another year, but not trading Contreras makes no sense.

Come on now, let's not completely forget 2021's run to the division crown, 107 wins and a Gm. 5 in the Div. Series. As Ringo Starr said "It don't come easy." (or something to that effect.)

Am I irked about this year's mediocrity? Absolutely. Keeping Rodon and Pederson? Yes. But maybe they came to him and said they didn't want to be traded and Zaidi wanted to be known around the league as someone who actually cares about the players, even if they're on a short-term contract. Or maybe he plans to resign them for after this year.

I'll give Zaidi a break for now.

They should fire him, he would never get another job.

And then they trade Fulmer for a carton of Juicyfruit. Avila is a clown show.

I think GMs know they can wait Avila out because he’ll cave at the end

There have been at least 3 of those lately. Gotta be a weird deal. But I suppose it’s convenient.

One more punch on his baseball card and he gets a free Big Gulp.

In Joe Garagiola’s book he wrote he was traded from the Pirates to the Cubs between games of a doubleheader at Wrigley Field

The 2021 Giants were like finishing off the greatest gourmet meal you've ever eaten in your life, only to find one last bite of steak hidden under the fork. The stars completely aligned for what remained of a core of guys who hoisted three flags over a five-year period but hadn't reached .500 since 2016. I'm having a difficult time thinking of many other similar situations where sheer stubbornness in the face of Father Time has resulted in that kind of unexpected success.

They caught lightning in a bottle that everybody not wearing a SF cap knew was empty. The pieces that stayed glued together in 2021 have broken in 2022. Zaidi finally rolled craps.

Used to happen quite frequently when there were only eight teams in each league.
