You and I (and many, many millions of others) are in the same boats: 1) (almost certainly) seriously degraded immunity from vaccines/boosters administered 50-ish (my word) years ago; and B) a lifestyle that makes contracting monkeypox such a long-shot that betting on UAB to win the CFP championship would be a comparative bargain.

I figure that at best I have minimal immunity. Make it a bet on UAB winning C-USA and I'd be in business. One yard short against UTSA last season or we'd be playing for four in a row.

If UAB ever won a football championship UAT would sell the campus for parts.

So your vaccine "passport" holds a record of your immunizations. What a novel approach. Particularly if the government actually did no nefarious things... which I don't think they did, unless you're black and from Tuskeegee. But what a nice record. I have one also. Not anti-vax here, just not beyond belief we may be guinea pigs. I am vaxxed.

More than 400 a day dead doesn't seem great.

One death isn't great either. But it's a little encouraging to see that the death rate is much lower than it was at the beginning. A sign that we're getting closer to the endemic phase — but we're not there yet.

Guinea pigs? I don't know how old you are, but every kid I knew had that little round scar on their arm. It was freaking universal.

Yep. Mine faded, but I had one. I remember lining up at school in kindergarten or first grade. All of us, with our sleeves rolled up getting jabbed with something. Production line.

And I'm talking about white middle class kids.

We eradicated the disease. The only human one in history, so far. If that’s not evidence that the vaccine worked, I don’t know what is.

Trivia question: Anyone know the only other disease that has been eradicated?
