Not Taylor, but he is the answer to “name the only pro bowl player to come out of Delaware State.”

Seeing no more takers, the answer is Gary Clark of the Washington Redskins and Phoenix/Arizona Cardinals. A solid regular season player, he also had some big games in the playoffs and Super Bowls.

Bobby Layne was the starting quarterback for the 1949 New York Bulldogs, which was the only year for that franchise under that nickname. The backup quarterback was this future head coach in the AFL and NFL.

Who was the Bulldogs’ backup QB to Layne?

There are a finite number of answers to this, which makes it tricky. I’ll guess Sid Gillman because he was an offensive guru…but he looked a little too old to have been playing in 1949.

    Sorry, I forgot.

The answer is John Rauch, who later coached the Raiders in Super Bowl II and left to coach the Bill for two poor seasons. Rauch was replaced on the Raiders by some assistant coach in his early 30s. That guy probably never amounted to much.

Probably. I do know Rauch went to Buffalo where he basically had no idea how to use OJ.
