    Just discovered that Simers joined Twitter in May. Many of his posts blast his former employer and its sports coverage.

    I've seen enough to think that for all of the problems with newspapers/websites, writers aren't as relevant or vibrant on their own. Something about that connection with readers, the teamwork, the pressure, the access and habit of producing daily and the brand of a newspaper matters. We learn pretty quickly that guy blogging on his own isn't as interesting as person out there reporting and writing from the scenes.
