A cautionary tale for anyone who thought pizza was born in (heh-heh) New York City.

Maybe pizza wasn't born in New York, but it grew up there. And it still has a condo in Brooklyn.

The first pizzeria in the United States is Lombardi's in NYC. It's Neapolitan style, with a charred crust.

    This is not NYC pizza.

No, this is not my idea of something better. And yes, those are American slices.

I seem to recall that Lombardi’s featured anchovies.

Best pizzas I ever had were from Vino Brothers, and DeLorenzo's, in Trenton.

Had pizza from four different places in the metro.

All were excellent ... and remind me that, except for maybe one place where I am now, nothing comes close by comparison.
