Shrug. We're a couple of hundred miles from the coast. When one comes we get a bunch of wind and rain but it's not anywhere near taking the brunt of one.

Same here across the state line. The weather man had a graphic on the TV news last night that showed about half the days in August so far have had highs below 90 — and the entire next week is supposed to be about the same, with solid rain chances each day to boot. For August, that's almost unheard of.
Makes up for July, when it seemed like it was 95+ with a heat index upwards of 105 for the entire month. A high of 93 was getting a break from the heat.

Mine looks like hammered shit. I haven't mowed in four weeks. I yike lawncare but I can't make it rain.

This is the first link in the article two posts above, but this blew my mind and lots of folks won't click through.

I've been watching my Big Ass Explosions ™ videos, and it led me to believe what the world needs right now is a big volcano to blow. Something on the order of Tambora.

A good read. Hanford is a darkly fascinating place, and many in the Tri-Cities area of SE Washington are proud of their role in helping end WW II.

I really cringed, though, the first time I saw the mushroom-cloud helmet logo for a local high school football team (the Richland Bombers).
