This is really bad, not least because the Lt. Governor is a Republican tool with no spine whatsoever, who goes the way the wind blows. I suppose he has a bit more free will than Governor Maw-Maw, who basically says what her handlers tell her to, but on a graph of Active <----> Passive and Smart <-----> Stupid, he's Active/Stupid. The thing with Ivey is just sad. Someone needs to take Grandma's keys away.

The GOP was willing to play the long con if Trump could somehow deliver the Senate in the 2022 midterms. But allowing Trump to foist Herschel Walker, Dr. Oz and J.D. Vance on the American voters appears to be a gross miscalculation (or at least let's hope that's the case in two more months).

The Turtle is no dummy, even if I hate his politics. He sees the polls. He sees the lack of fundraising. He knows the score, and there's no rigged election to blame/deflect this time.

If the Democrats hold the Senate, Republicans can have their Et Tu, Brute? moment with Trump, wipe the blood from their daggers and still have two years to regroup for the 2024 White House push. They'll have enough feigned outrage at Brandon to pull Trump's cultists back in line by then, especially if the big, bad Department of Justice and the nasty FBI continue to dunk on Donald for the foreseeable future. And that's looking likely.

That would open things up for DeSantis, et al, to emerge as the "new, improved MAGA." God help us all.

I’m curious how far the GOP is going to let the MAGAs push this “Trump declassified those documents” defense. Are they really willing to put classified, compartmentalized info into the public domain to protect him?

And he's a big Trump donor.

Wait until Angry Staffer realizes that SPC is up for so many criminal offenses that housing classified documents doesn't make the first page among offenses committed ...

He knows. It's that this is both an open and shut case and such a screamingly dangerous violation that they really should put his ass in the pokey and sort things out in court afterward. All the people, including me, who have said something like "If I had done this they'd..." would have never have had a chance to do so, because TS/SCI documents should not be viewed outside of a SCIF, a secure space which is guarded 24/7, swept for bugs regularly, and has no connection to anything outside of it's walls. You have to have a TS/SCI clearance and Need to Know to so much as step inside.

The documents Trump stole are a Very Big Deal, the crown jewels of our intelligence and counterintelligence agencies. He needs to be dealt with accordingly.

Here's the full text of the last letter from the National Archives to Trump's lawyer before the FBI searched MAL.

There are times when Trump and his people just can't help but sabotage their own case. This is another one.
