Some workers got richer. Some hung on to the same rung. Some saw their jobs go to Bangladesh.

I agree that executive pay is not really part of this discussion, but it’s also unarguable that rising executive pay and the need to maintain the same profits in the face of rising executive pay is creating a barrier to entry to the economy that higher education is meant to clear. I don’t begrudge anybody getting some help to clear that barrier.

Considering that my parents, in the late 1970s-early 80s could, on my dad's union job, buy a house on a lake, a used boat, a new car and another used car and take their kids on vacation regularly without accruing massive, backbreaking debt, while my wife and I, on our seemingly better -- and dual! -- middle-class incomes struggle to do that in the same manner for our family ... yes!

(But, yeah, I know, we have cell phones and streaming services now.)

When pondering the wisdom -- or the lack thereof -- of this "forgiveness!" push, it is very important to keep in mind that Trump declared bankruptcy six times.

It is true that’s irrelevant, and that bankruptcy is an option that is available to all of us.

This action is still the right thing.

"Greatest political attack in the history of America."

    John Wilkes Booth might disagree.
