Adding to the Alpine part: Ricciardo bolted from Alpine for McLaren, so there are likely some ill feelings. Then again, the team management has changed since then so maybe that's not much of a factor.

Latest gossip is Alpine is trying to get Pierre Gasly away from Alpha Tauri. If that doesn't work they may want Mick Schumacher, who seems to be on the way out of Haas.

So yeah, Alpine may not be too enthusiastic about Ricciardo.

I saw those rumors about Gasly and Mick this weekend, interesting. Is Mick on the way out at Haas because he thinks he has something better lined up, or is Haas dumping him? I could see Gasly being willing to jump ship, doesn't sound like there's much chance of him getting another shot with Red Bull.

I *think* it's Haas dumping Schumacher but I'm really not sure. I don't really have a great handle on much that Haas does. I believe Mick is there in part because of the Ferrari agreement, but I don't think Ferrari has a say in that seat going forward. That could be why he's probably out. Ricciardo makes some sense at Haas if that's the case... but again, I don't get Haas. F1 has suddenly become a big deal in the US and Haas does absolutely nothing to leverage the fact that it's the only American team. McLaren makes stronger connections in the US market than Haas does.

Well, I'm developing sort of an interest since my daughter told me to watch the Netflix series. I have one more episode to go.

I watched yesterday's race (I have never watched an F1 race before) and it was a turd, unfortunately. But I knew who most of the people were, looking at the race order and trying to remember recent history of the drivers. I did notice Schumacher was last among those running at the end. The sons of rich guys (the Canadian and the Russian) were shit, too.

Question: on the race order, Max had a small purple square outside the right column. Looked like a clock logo in it. What is that?

It means he has the fastest lap, which is worth a point if he finishes in the top ten.

Just dropped $7.77 to sign up for the sign up for Vegas F-1 tickets. What a racket.

I did the same, mostly because it is a donation to their charity. I may be a chump, but if I get a chance to get some good tickets, it’s probably worth the $7.77.

Bummer of a race in the return from the break. A couple of fun moments like Ocon’s overtake of Vettel and Gasly on Kemmel Straight, but was otherwise a dud. There was a great angle from Ocon’s onboard where you could see that Gasly had the edge as they neared the end of the straight, but Ocon braked just a hair later and it made the difference.
