There are two propositions on the California ballot to legalize sports betting. One would allow it only in Indian casinos and horse racing tracks and the other would legalize online betting such as FanDuel and Draft Kings. We have been flooded with TV commercials for both, but neither side is promoting the gambling aspect. It has become about money to help the homeless and mentally ill and pitting casino tribes versus smaller, non-casino tribes. I don't know that I've heard gambling mentioned in either side's ads.
I think if they simply asked "do you want sports betting in the state and if so, in what form," either would have a better chance of passing instead of all the misleading information.
