That should have been a minimum sentence for anyone who stepped foot in the Capitol that day. One can only hope the muscle behind the insurrection that haven't gotten through the court system are still awaiting some serious prison time.

And God willing, some politicians, who were instrumental behind the scenes, ought to be hearing a knock on the door between now and 2024. Hope they bone up on Miranda.

 

I would love to see if that law passes Constitutional muster. I'm guessing even this SCOTUS might see that and laws like it as a bridge too far.
