Climate Change? Nahhh ...

Here in Mississippi, 28 of the last 29 days in July were 90 or above, and there was also a 15-day stretch in June of 90 or above. Nine of those June days were 96 or above.
Since Aug. 18 we haven't had a day over 92 and August was the wettest on record. We normally get about 4.5 inches of rain, and this August we got almost 13.
Truly, it was a tale of two summers.

 

A friend in Sacramento chimed in to our group text with a 117-degree temperature update. Her AC is set at 82, because the energy company is worried about brownouts.

 

I'm told that any such is evidence of terrible
governorship.

 

In order words, don’t drive

 

I'll take 100 in Texas over 90 in Mississippi all day long. The humidity makes all the difference.

 

EV charging will definitely change the pattern of electricity generation. Might not be as pronounced in the South, however, as peak summer consumption during the day levels out with all the bitch wagons hooked to the grid at night.

It'll take a while before any bro driving a four-door F350 dually with a gooseneck ball gets caught with a charger cable.

There was one day this summer with a reported temperature of 100 degrees at Newark Airport...which is stupid, since I don't know anybody who lives at the airport, as George Carlin put it.

Rarely tops 100 in temperate NJ -- or New Orleans, where I once lived.
