Watched Samaritan on Amazon Prime. It's not awful, but it is largely forgettable and predictable. That includes a reveal at the end that was really easy to see coming. It is largely an excuse for Stallone to play another tired, broken warrior-type.

He should leave that to Bob Odenkirk. Bob’s better at it.

He needs to stop trying to make fetch happen. At least Schwarzenegger had the sense to go the cuddly/funny route when he realized he was past being a superhero type.

Stallone tried that in Stop Or My Mom Will Shoot. It did not go well.

True. I watched it for a while, wondering who the audience was for that bit of movie awfulness.

Arnold's slam dunks post supes era have been vehicles that either make fun of his past, like True Lies, or they stick him squarely in shlub territory trying to be a good husband and/or dad, like Jingle All the Way. He's had misses, too, but they still retain appeal because of the writing, direction, marketing.

    The Good:

    Um, no:

Stallone has ... decent comedic chops. He's plenty capable of being funny (Demolition Man). He just isn't funny enough to carry a comedy. Arnie is.

"Elvis." Austin Butler was great, even though Baz Luhrmann's direction has always been overly pretentious, in my view. Don't think the heavy focus on Col. Parker was necessary. Still, worth a look.
