Stanton is batting .218 and has eight hits in his last 61 ABs.

And who also homered in the previous two games, playing in a stadium where a pop fly for the pull hitter he is ends up on Lansdowne Street

I still make Stanton do that damage. You just don't give Judge the opportunity to beat you this season.

It took Stanton a while to get going when he came back. But the way he was swinging his bat in the Tampa series, you could tell his timing was coming around.

I half agree with @matt_garth. I wouldn't have intentionally walked Judge, and it's hard to feel good about pitching to Stanton in that ballpark, but if they were trying to pitch around Judge in the 8th, the way I would have been, that was a piss poor job. It was hanging slider that sat spinning right over home plate with a "hit me" sign on it.

It's so difficult to pitch around Judge right now because he seems to be seeing the ball ridiculously well. On the first home run, it wasn't a bad pitch. It was a super slow offspeed pitch that was over the outside part of the plate. Earlier in the season, if you had any chance to get Judge, it was offspeed, low and outside. This pitch was up, but it was the kind of pitch a lot of players would have been lunging at, and if they got a piece of it, it would have been a pulled slow ground ball. Judge not only wasn't lunging, he stayed back like he knew it was coming and them muscled it to the opposite field. I don't know what more Pivetta could have done. But this is the reason Judge is hitting all of those home runs, and also batting over .300. He's not trying to hit home runs. He's just getting good swings and he's such a mammoth human being that a lot of them are going out of the park.

Ken Rosenthal in an "open letter" in The Athletic calls for La Russa to step down. That's a pretty bold step to take which makes me think Rosenthal's probably hearing from people close to team that it really needs to happen.

I never saw Cleveland pulling away in the Central as a possibility.

Playing the Angels three times will help that situation.

Patrick Corbin, The Trumpist starting pitcher for the Washington Nationals Baseball Club, LLC, was lifted with a 2-1 lead after 6 innings. His successor allowed 4 runs in short order. Corbin thinks he won the game and the counting of runs stopped after 6 innings.

In case you need another reason to consider Judge for MVP, look at the rest of his team's lineup, which is peppered with rookies and reclamation projects. It turns out that a couple of those guys have had nice years, but it's not exactly a killer crew on paper. It leads the AL in scoring because of an other-worldly season from Judge.
Miguel Andujar, for example, was -- once upon a time -- scheduled to be a great contributor for the 2022 Yankees.s He hit 47 doubles as a rookie in 2018. He has had hit six since and is currently residing in Triple-A, I think.

It didn’t occur to me until today that these were Guardian-Angel match-ups.
