Liked Ralph's speech. Always nice to see someone who's been "at it" for decades be recognized. Also liked the "thanks" chyrons - nothing kills a speech more than a list of names. Also glad the Emmys expanded the number of nominees. Given the growth of TV from broadcast to cable to now streamers - limiting it to five is ridiculous.

I don't want this season of Industry to end. So damn good. Yas is such a twat. They've somehow made her into a real villain. Also, I don't know if it was intentional for Harper to be wearing a misspelled "Binghampton University" hoodie or not in episode 7. Any use of Liquid Swords gets this guy's thumbs-up, too.

Halfway through this thanks to your post. Yeah, maybe "thanks" isn't the right word, very tough watch. I'm gonna have to circle back and read the book.

I remember just a little bit about the story but not much detail. There were so many awful stories coming out in the weeks and months after Katrina.

We have the last episode to watch. It takes a twist that I didn’t remember or didn’t know. Decided not to look up the resolution before I watch it and then go back and read about it. Probably the book as well.

Season 5 has started of Elisabeth's Selfies, er, The Handmaid's Tale. Every. Other. Shot. Was a closeup of Ms Moss' punim. There would be a medium shot of somebody else and then ELISABETH. Dear God.

Wow. They even have mid-season premieres in there, which is really just a bullshit thing networks started doing to try turn the stupid concept of the in-season hiatus into a hype-worthy event.

You see a lot of shows the networks are really invested in held back to January or February these days to avoid the carnage of the Fall Season. With the NFL on three nights and Friday and Saturday low viewership nights, it's not a surprise how much reality stuff takes up the fall season.

Could go in the books thread too, but - Jim Burrows has a new book out. He's the legendary TV director behind Cheers, Will and Grace, and also did episodes of tons of other classics. It sounded like both a good history book, and also good about the craft of TV writing and directing. (He was on Conan's pod to hype it up, if you want to give that a listen first.)
