"Martha's Vineyard ordeal" is an awfully odd word choice there ...

 

I'm like maybe 40 miles from the Vineyard. By all accounts, what happened to those asylum seekers there was maybe the kindest treatment they'd received in their entire lives, certainly since seeking asylum.

Imagine the documentary 50 years from now on Trump with someone with the pipe of James Earl Jones, Peter Coyote or Sam Elliott reading Trump's Tweets. A Meryl Streep or Laura Linney type reading those of Marge Green.

 

I'm glad Inky mentioned it was on. A lot better than Packers-Bears.

Those of that bent who watched might have been cheering for the wrong team.

A couple things struck me from the first installment:

I had not fully realized the depth and severity of anti-Semitism in the U.S. throughout its history, probably because I came of age while living in a state on the plains, far from a synagogue. I was aware the hatred existed, but not aware of the degree it pervaded.

The show also made parallels I hadn’t thought of between the western expansion of the U.S. and Germany’s plans for eastern expansion and the treatment of the existing populations displaced or exterminated in those regions (Indian tribes and Jews).
