Color me skeptical that "the media" were involved (unwittingly or not) in "fooling the banks."

Sure, but what she has brought to light will lead to criminal charges against a number of Trump Org insiders. Those lead to people flipping and testifying in any number of other investigations.

Looks like her presser generated enough heat that he tweeted out that there was still an active criminal investigation by his office.

I realize it won’t happen this way but I would love Garland to announce everything at once

In the confiscation of classified documents case …
In the seditious conspiracy case …
In the tax evasion and fraud case …
Just pile on the orange traitor

I think she referred him for Federal criminal prosecution as well. Correct me if that's wrong.

I continue to hope that one fine morning I read that the various Federal investigations have served a tall stack of sealed indictments.

A criminal investigation (not prosecution). Which they may or may not now conduct. It's about as meaningful as you telling the DOJ to investigate Donald Trump.

Do you think they have been waiting for Letitia James to enlighten them about Trump being a dishonest businessman?

The reason nobody pursues these prosecutions is that they aren't clean or easy. Their calculation is that they stand a better than even chance of losing and looking bad if they actually indict. It's why the Manhattan DA went balls out. ... and then crawled away from it.

The civil suit (which is what she is doing). ... is a political stunt. It's about her being able to get in front of a camera for her own ambitions. She may or may not win, but again my question is. ... have the banks that loaned him money or the IRS sued him over what she is alleging? Why is she playing thta role, then? As someone else said earlier on the thread, she came out with some pretty weak tea. And the way she blathered on in front of the camera, I don't think she even served her own ambitions that well.

Shrug. We'll see. Trump is a master of dancing right down the edge of criminality while staying just clean enough to broker a settlement out of court that allows him to claim innocence.

I think that this is a consistent pattern of behavior he can be convicted for. Either way it costs him money, time, and reputation and makes another Presidential run less likely.

You get convicted for breaking a law. Not for a "pattern of behavior."

I'm not making excuses for him. He's a slimeball. But unless Letitia James is using her resources to go after people who lied on mortgage applications or just about every real estate speculator who tries to inflate the value of their assets to get loans, it's just cheap and selective in a raw politicized way. They should have criminally prosecuted him if they had anything. They chose not to.

I'm not sure he should be arguing in favor of rolling back voting rights.
