He did his job tonight. Led off the game with a double. Had another hit. But didn't have to hit a homer and he probably didn't want to.
Judge now leading the AL in BA as well as HR and RBI. That would be something.

 

NYY talking heads are bitter. Ripping the Pirates' pitcher for walking Judge in the eighth. I don't know why. They can't wait another day for the perfect scenario? It's not like this is the last week of the season.

They profit as much as the big markets do

 

Given that teams refuse to show their books, that is a guess at best. They don't bring in nearly the same revenue as the big markets. They could stay more and still be profitable, but that will never happen as long as Bob Nutting is the owner. When push comes to shove, his justification is that the game is still slanted in favor of the big markets, even if the only person he is justifying it to is himself. The closest he actually comes is when he implies that the low payroll is the fault of the fans in Pittsburgh for not buying more tickets.
