    A guy I went to HS with lives in Cape Coral. Lost his house (on a canal) after Irma in 2017 and the rebuild took forever. He evacuated a few days ago so he and his family are safe but who knows what they’re going to come home to.

    My wife made a good observation.
    Since Fran in 1996, all homes in our area are required to be built on pilings. Ours is elevated about 12 feet. Much of what you see from Florida have low-built structures.
    The closest thing I could come up with is state by state regulations, but it is a good question.
