At least half, it not 3/4, of all MLB players can be considered journeymen, can't they? The top 10% are the superstars/stars, and the bottom 15-20% are guys who will have short careers/26th-man type. The everyday player should be celebrated at least once in a while, and what better time than at the end of his career?

I can't say I was teary-eyed, but that video of Vogt was fun.

The Orioles aren't going to go out and spend because they're run by the Angelos family and also because they still owe Chris Davis a zillion dollars.

Maybe the game's dumbest contract in the last 25 years.

They are paying him $9.16 million next year. They can afford to spend more on current players. They choose not to do so.

You don't seem to get it ... they are paying the guy not to play.

Good setup if you're close to retirement, not so good if you're running a club in the AL East.

I like the Orioles very much, I think they have it together. But they're not going to go do something they haven't done since their ballpark opened.

Plug Means into the front of the starting rotation in place of some of the back-end starts, and see what you come up with.

You don't seem to get it. I'm not defending Davis's contract. I'm saying that it isn't such an overwhelming amount of money that the team can't spend on other players. Baltimore's 2022 payroll was only $64.8 million, nearly $100 million below the MLB average.

I'm not getting on that hobbyhorse with you.

People thought they were nuts when they made their fences higher in the left-field power alley.
They said it would save them dozens of runs, it would make them better. Check. Check.
Maybe the Orioles know what they're doing that they don't need to go out and sign some hacker on the market.

Stephen Vogt's kids announced his walk-up to his final AB, where he hit the HR, so that was cool.

Dude played 10 years, came up to bat nearly 2,600 times, and was a two-time All-Star. Good for him, and bad for you if you can't appreciate it.
