Ukraine itself was the site of one of those irregular conflicts in WW2, a three-way fight between the occupying Germans, Soviet partisans, and Ukrainian separatist partisans (one of whom killed top-ranking Soviet general Vatutin). In the end, the advance of the Red Army ended this conflict as it established total Soviet control and the bulk of the surviving populace was happy enough to see the Germans gone and had no interest in further conflict.

The U.S. and NATO are, of course, supplying a lot of money and equipment to Ukraine. But Ukraine's biggest weapons supplier remains ... Russia.

    I thought the same.

In the nuclear age, symmetrical conflict has become quite rare.

That’s still rising. The Sirens have gone off. You hit a Homer with that one.
