Verlander has a 5.86 ERA in the WS. That's ... not good. Much better when pitching to an AL team.

Kershaw's postseason ERA is over 4. Scherzer's numbers are pretty good, record notwithstanding.

The all-time World Series winning pitcher was Whitey Ford. Had a 10-8 record, 2.71 ERA, 1.137 WHIP. Of course, Ford piled up his totals because he was the top pitcher on a team that made the Series 12 times in his 16 year career.

How the fuck did the Tigers have Verlander and Scherzer AND Miggy Cabrera and never win the Series?

I dunno, the Detroit media constantly assured us that Jim Leyland was an absolute slam dunk HOF manager.

He's no Larry Brown, that's for sure.

Actually Leyland's history is kind of loosely similar to Brown's. Both have milked a million gallons of public reputation out of a couple of championship teams in the middle of decades of .500 finishes.
