Getting new booster (Moderna) on Saturday afternoon. Based on the side effects from the last couple of shots, have nothing planned on Sunday.

Still wondering if I've ever the virus, as a very mild case or asymptomatic. Tested a few times around travel and once when I didn't feel well, and never had a positive.

Regardless, glad to be getting the reformulated booster headed into winter.

Lo, the COVID is past, the virus is over and done, the time for the administering of shots has come, and the voice of the turtle can be heard in our land.

Lo, it is not. The loooong legs reach far and wide. Schools that had implemented teaching via zoom for 18 months, now force teachers who have covid to stay out (understandable) BUT take those days are countable sick days (not understandable), for at least 5 days from day tested as day zero, with no remote class teaching accepted. So you can be symptomless and available, but not teach remotely? Although remotely, you send in lesson plans, and students continue to contact you for support or clarification? Not really sick time, is it?

Our off time is never our off time. I’m on a week break and I’m grading stuff because grades are due a week after we come back.

I need to look again but California for a while had Covid not be sick time. Something I should know just in case.

Gotcha. But DE did just change the covid sick time rule. BUT, good news. Don't toss those expired home test kits yet. The FDA has released (earlier this year, perhaps I missed the announcement here) new expiration dates for otherwise expired kits. Here.

Mama Corona is still in the living room watching her stories. But I expect before long she will make her way to the kitchen to bake us a fresh Pi.

I’ve seen a lot of right wing Twitter users say Pfizer has admitted that they didn’t test their vaccine.

As best I can tell they made up this claim from whole cloth.

Not that there's much chance of swaying those who have already decided vaccines are all one big conspiracy (maybe even a religion?), but here:

So they find one little thing that they think proves their point and latch on to it?

    hmmm

Long Covid is said to affect white middle-aged women more – but data suggests otherwise

A recent study by Viswanathan and her UCLA colleagues followed Covid patients for up to 90 days after a Covid infection and found that long Covid symptoms cut across demographic groups, with only about a third of those with long Covid identifying as white. In a clinical setting, however, Viswanathan says roughly 80% of the patients seeking treatment for long Covid are white.

The white patients also more likely have the means to pursue advanced treatment.
