All of this revolves around the fact that the postseason started three days late due to the lockout. Normally Day 1 of the Division Series is not the four-game day (the two leagues normally start on different days and first overlap on Game 2 for one and Game 1 for the other) but they wanted to stagger them to make sure there wasn't an off day for everyone tomorrow as they would have if they were doing to the 2-x-2-x-1 format.

The early off days are a little odd, but I suppose that will even itself out over the next few weeks.
Another cool thing about that wild-card round is it pays to win it cleanly.
Seattle swept its series and the bullpen was still at suboptimal strength for Game 1 in Houston.

I guess the AL is hoping neither of these go 5.
    Game 1
    Off day
    Game 2
    Travel day
    Game 3
    Game 4
    Game 5

    NL isn’t much better
    Game 1
    Game 2
    Travel Day
    Game 3
    Game 4
    Game 5

At least there are no cross-country flights between potential games 4 and 5. Dodgers and Padres would bus about two hours while flights from Cleveland to New York and Philly to Atlanta are less than two hours. Seattle to Houston is 3:30.

You can always count on MLB to fuck up the simplest things, like a playoff schedule.

    Look on the bright side
Starting the Braves-Phillies at 7 knocked The Masked Singer off Fox’s schedule

The thought of LA winning another WS is unbearable so I'm compelled to root for ATL to prevail against the plucky PHI.

The Braves just had their moment a year ago. I’ll pass.

He asked if Braves fans were smart enough to learn a song with more than one word.
