Cruelty and war go hand in hand. You typically don't win a war with hugs and flowers.
Frankly, it's astonishing that it took the Russians this long to target key infrastructure like power plants. Those should be among the first targets when you invade a country.

I think they hoped to overrun the country with infrastructure in tact.

Meanwhile: Ukraine better hope they win before the GOP Congress is sworn in.

Oh they definitely did. The initial strategy seemed to be a decapitation strike on Kyiv, which quickly went into the crapper when they lost the battle at the airport.
I'm just stunned that, once it was obvious this wouldn't be over in a few weeks, they didn't start targeting those types of things. Maybe they couldn't accept that the campaign wasn't going that way. That wouldn't surprise me.

The nice part about their RV service is that it allows you to roam and you can pause your service, so if you only travel seasonally, you don’t have pay during the offseason when you aren’t camping. Basically you just pay a month at a time.

Not Russia-Ukraine, but military related and noteworthy.

Iran has no direct overland border with Russia as the Soviet Union is no more, but ships can cross the inland Caspian Sea with impunity. I don't think Azerbaijan is blocking trade.

(Looking it up on a map, here's a geographical oddity: A sliver of Kazakhstan north of the Caspian lies west of the Ural Mountains, putting it technically in Europe!)

I have a sick feeling Russia’s going to turn everything up to 11 very soon, by sending their new, Iranian supplied ICBMs into Kyiv’s power and water plants.

Sounds like Iran wants to find out how the sanctions against Russia feel.

Yeah, Iran is a country that already knows about sanctions. I'm imagine they're still under plenty of them. Russia has spurred a new inventiveness in tough sanctions, though.
