The Kilberg signing was a great one for a rebuilding team. A one year deal and if you aren’t near the playoffs you trade him for assists and use his 7 mill next year in free agency. More rebuilding teams should be doing these things.

I can actually see what you're saying.

At the same time, as I said. ... it's going to come at the cost of a lot of 7-3 games (I am not putting that all on John Klingberg, FWIW), and I still question how much that helps the rebuild in the big picture. I follow a team that just did a rebuild, and putting aside that they lucked out with good young players, I think the fact that they were competitive in games even before they had all the pieces in place and were ready to turn the corner, was super important in the rebuild going more quickly than they had even planned on.

He helps them by getting them assets at the deadline if they don’t make a playoff push.
The Ranger rebuild is not something that you can emulate most places. Panarin was only going to New York, Gorton made wise decisions know doubt, but they got extremely lucky as well.

The game before at NYI confirmed your point. The Islanders are one of the most rugged teams in the league pushed the Ducks all over the place in a 7-1 game. Last season, I saw nightly that the Ducks never won any puck battles. Looks like the same situation this season. I thought they might win 3 on this 5-game trip (after the three losses in NY, they go to Boston and Detroit), now I don't think they'll win any. They will come home with a 1-5 record.

The things the league will do to give TNT a second doubleheader game.

The virtual boards are an abomination but I realized last night that a big part of the problem is that there's no red line on the boards virtually and so it makes the corner look weird.

When I was at The Washington Times, we paid some absurd price for a package with the Capitals that included four pretty good seats to every home game and - yep, that there but not really there advertising on TV. It was cool to be watching at home and see The Washington Times real big behind the goalie. Not sure it did any good in terms of subscriptions or what not but those tickets were a nice perk. The ME was a great guy whose son played hockey and the EE was a huge sports fan who knew his stuff. Went to several games and it was always a fun time.

The ME was a big guy who also played in an adult league. Came in one day with a huge gash on his forehead. I gave him a look and he said "don't ask" but said it with a laugh. I said OK, I'll just assume it happened in a fight and the other guy looks worse. Go with that, he said.

After an 0-5-0 start, Sharks beat writer is already speculating if they may get the No. 1 pick in the lottery.

They play in NY tonight. Maybe David Quinn will finally get them to play with Swaggah TM.

They could have been doing that before the year started
