He also had a newborn having some difficulties. Hopefully this means the baby is getting better.

That, and perhaps the Padres saw some flaw that the Brewers couldn't? Sometimes a change of address is all that's needed.

I hadn't seen that reported, but it makes sense. His collapse happened right after he returned from paternity leave.

He was getting expensive for a one-inning guy (making $11M this year, due to get more in arb for 2023 and a free agent in 2024), and Milwaukee had a nearly equally effective Devin Williams waiting in the wings (and acquired Taylor Rogers in the deal). It was a misguided attempt to sell high. The part that doesn't make sense to me is how they didn't get a bat in the deal, because hitting was what sunk Milwaukee's season.

I never root for the Yankees but in this case I’ll make an exception

There are now dozens of Haders in each league that are near league minimum. They now grow on trees.

Guys you’ve never heard of with sub-2.00 eras who throw 98.

Is that Heidi? I thought it was the kids’ grandma at first glance.

There is the natural gift of being left-handed and being able to do freak things, which changes the value.

I thought he'd be rooting for Cancun of the Mexican Winter League.

Ted saw 2 college football teams lose in one day last month. He was also on hand when his klan from Texas Tech lost to Virginia in the 2019 ncaa basketball championship game.

Most of them don't have his combination of stuff and track record. Reliable relief pitchers are damn hard to come by, but aside from that 10-week disaster this season, he had been reliably dominant since his arrival in the majors in 2017.

Please tell us who these guys are that had a sub-2.00 ERA in 2022 and throw 98 miles per hour. The only one I can think of who is close to that territory is Bryan Abreu. Do you really trust Bryan Abreu as much as Josh Hader in a high-leverage situation?
