Nantz talked on a golf podcast last week about being an older father and the fact that he won't be around for as much of their lives as he'd like. Was a sobering little moment. There's no question he'll go to Augusta as long as he's breathing, but who knows, maybe he's got an end year in mind on his NFL work too.

Why does it feel like Jim Nantz has been 63 for the last 20 years?

Happy for Ian Eagle and a little surprised he’s getting the chance, since he does not do the Daffy Duck “Look at me!” dance so many in his profession have perfected.

Nantz long ago said he would do his last Masters in 2035, his 50th. His first one was Jack's win in 1986. Then it was pointed out the 100th Masters will be in 2036 so he'll probably call it quits after that. He'll be 76 then and even that he might not give up so quickly.

Him giving up the Final Four has long been talked about. He only does college basketball when the Big Ten Tournament starts. Maybe one regular-season game (after the NFL, CBS is deep into golf).

Eagle will do very good on the Final Four and is Nantz's obvious successor as the lead on NFL games when Nantz gives that up.

Eagle has that perfect vanilla voice you want on March Madness, in the same way Mike Breen does on the NBA. He'll be fine.

At the risk of topic drift, Nantz has a house at Pebble Beach, but don't know if it's his full-time home. He did a spot for the local First Tee group that is beyond bad.

It usually is. But he was on Dan Patrick's show about a month to six weeks ago and says during football season, he's living in Nashville for the shorter commutes. Said he was flying into SFO then driving to Pebble and it got to be too much. Surprised he wouldn't fly directly into Pebble, but OK.

Monterey has a regional airport, so he's catching a puddle jumper from SFO to home. Probably easier to drive than wait for the connecting flight.

    Nantz doesn’t fly private?
And he lives in Nashville? Where? With Herbstreit?

Yeah, it surprised me. Should be on the first page of the contract.

Buck and Aikman will be back in St. Louis and Dallas before sunrise tomorrow. Herbstreit certainly flies exclusively private.

I know Nantz loves people and all, but c'mon man. At his age, with that workload, there's no excuse for not flying private.
