I don't think U.S. politics should dictate the price of Oil and Gas.

But American O&G companies compete against state-owned entities, where politics for sure dictate the price and production of Oil and Gas.

I don't think the UK taxes corporate profits earned elsewhere (i.e., not in the UK). Stipulating that's so, "record global profits" means diddly as regards "UK tax obligations".

 

So says Shell, which claims it offset all that loot by pouring lots of money into North Sea production upgrades.

Although elsewhere Shell was found to have bought back a lot of its own stock.
