Wonder what the source of his optimism re: a Tampa Bay ballpark might be. The state's not forking over any cash. Not after the Rays pissed off lord and savior Junior, Gov. DeathSentence, simply by putting out a statement about the Disney policy.

 

The A's steadily moved out west in the 20th century. Are they going to work their way back east in the 21st century?
If they move to Las Vegas in 2025 and then Nashville in 2050, they can be back in Philadelphia in time for the franchise's 200th anniversary in 2101.

 

Can't see Nashville embracing a baseball team or even wanting one. They already have the Braves.

The one story about Richardson that I’ve always found amusing was one time, the Yankees were in a slump and the brass attributed it to the players staying out late. So they hired a private detective to tail the players and report back. The first guys the detective followed was Richardson and Tony Kubek, who were heading down the street to the local YMCA to play ping-pong.

 

Wish they would just interview Schwarber in the dugout about his non-HR.

 

The funny thing is, after Casey got fired, Richardson became a much better hitter.

He also hit .367 (1960), .391 (1961) and .406 (1964) in the World Series and finished at .302 lifetime in series play. He had 12 of his 15 lifetime series RBIs in 1960.

Retired at 30 years of age with more walks than strikeouts and with more 200-hit seasons (1) than Ted Williams.

He and Kubec, who retired at 29 after a back injury at 26 or 27 curtailed his career, were great middle infielders.

 

He was also the MVP of the 1960 World Series, the only player from the losing team to win the award.
