Southern people call their grandmothers mammy, me-maw, ne-ne, nay nay and a hundred other things. I wouldn't think grandmammy is overly offensive, but I'm just a transplant.

 

It’s only offensive if you are looking to be offended, by anything. The same predicable petty, angry and stupid are calling for her to be fired while saying Kanye and Kyrie should be congratulated for their strength.

 

I have never heard a white Southern matriarch referred to by any form of “mammy.” Unless her accent is routinely that over the top while on air, this is kinda gross.
