    Looking forward to it. TBS' 24 marathons inspired me to watch it every two to three years. I am excited to see most of the original cast but have to admit it will be lacking something without Darren McGavin.

    What could I happily miss? Christmas with the Kranks.

    I'm sure that's the case. Melinda Dillon hasn't acted since 2007 and I doubt they'd have a script that killed both parents. And, as much as I loved Ma Parker in the original, she's replaceable. The old man is the one who isn't.

    What the OP means is the original was set in 1940, so Ralphie was born in 1930 or so.

    All the stuff in the Jean Shepherd archives but all we can think of is writing something different for these characters like it was comic book fanfic. Pass.
