We’re heading to Asheville here soon (our first trip in four years without a child) and have reservations at most of the restaurants we’d like to eat at, but Chai Pani just got named best restaurant in the country by the James Beard people and they don’t take reservations. Anyone from there or familiar with it know what our chances of getting in would be?

Loved my trip there a few years ago. The hiking around it was spectacular - so many incredible views.

Are people still using the VIP codes? And if so, are they checking cards at most places? Appears VIP is now exclusive to team personnel.

More for 2023, but I'm already planning. March will be my third trip to London, and as such, I'm going to only stay for four days (the three concert days and the day prior when I fly in on the red eye and just bar hop around Shoreditch and such). My thought was to tack on a three-day excursion to Amsterdam, where I'd fly out Monday afternoon then head back to Dulles on Thursday morning. Any tips? Looks like there's a shit ton to do there -- museums, biking, exploring the canals, getting high as fuck and wandering the streets, etc. Can I get by on English or should I learn a few key Dutch phrases? Have plenty of time before I head but I thought I'd see if any others here have been.

I’m pretty sure that “Pass the Dutchie” is more of Jamaican phrase.

Oh my goodness. Spent a night there last month and my oh my was it fantastic. Plenty od history, great hotel bars, really killer prime rib sammich for lunch and a hella good jazz band in the main lobby that evening. Price wasn’t so bad either.

We might bump into one another. My younger daughter is supposed to be doing the spring semester in London and my wife and I are planning on spending some time over there while she's there. As that's when my university's spring break is ...

    Anybody miss me?co

Just returned from an incredible five days in Washington D.C. An uncle was buried at Arlington and it was a very moving ceremony. 21 guns, Honor guard, a band, the whole deal. His plot is on the other side of the freeway from the Pentago n.It was incredible. Afterward, drove by Kennedy Row, and the Supremes (RBG, Marshall, Blackmun et. al) Hit a lot of places I hadn't been to before, WWII Memorial, King Memorial, Teddy Roosevelt Island, the National Cathedral - all very coolI. But the highlight was getting together with 20 some cousins from all over the country I haven't seen in decades and it was like we all just saw each other last month. It was an amazing family get-together, travelled with my sisters and folks. The folks did okay, despite being over 80 and not having traveled by plane for a long time. The travel was decent. Thanks Delta - caught a lot of college football today on the way back. But really, the week was about family. So grateful to have cousins I've known for my entire life. And seeing the younger generations hang out and play together like we did when we were younger.
Anyway - if you are going to be with family this week, really soak it up. You never know how long you will have to wait until you see them again.

Thinking about going to Big Rapids, Mich., specifically Ferris State U. to take in Saturday's Division II playoff against Pittsburg State (nephew is the strength coach).
    Any suggestions?
