Yes, against a non NATO aligned country. Now a NATO aligned country has been hit. We shouldn't just say damn the torpedos and go flying without at least making sure everyone is on board.

NATO has had 9 months to plan for this.

To plan for a rocket landing on a farm near the border with uncertain intent?

And even if you have plans for such an eventuality, what's the harm of checking in with everyone? If the plan is Germany goes in through Poland and the US goes in through Estonia but suddenly Estonia isn't on board, isn't that something everyone should know before all this starts?

Do you honestly think after 9 months of ground war and missile attacks, NATO hasn't war gamed that exact scenario?

Having done nothing to this point, I'm fairly confident NATO will continue to do nothing.

In the Cuban missile crisis the Russians shot down an American plane and killed the AMerican pilot.

Kennedy choose to ignore it as a Russian mistake. I think history has proven Kennedy was correct.

A strong protest from Poland, the U.S., Nato, other Western countries. ... Russia denies it was them. ... More sanctions on various individuals.

    Wash, rinse, repeat.

(And I am not saying that is the wrong response, either.)

Does that change anything? It only hit Poland because that's where it was intercepted?

I'm not sure this is true.

It further encourages Putin to go on as he has.
