I still think that Garland should have simply indicted Trump. Republicans have used special counsels for political witch hunts so often that they will never see it as non-political anyway.

 

Garland is the ultimate by-the-book guy, and the book, DOJ regulations in this case, make it pretty clear a special counsel is called for in this case. Good that he picked one who looks like the villain in an 80s action movie and has an obvious alias, though.

 

Trump indicted soon is the new infrastructure week.

 

Two weeks away

 

The action that will break the seal won’t be by the feds. It’ll come from out of left field from Fulton County Stadium (RIP).

 

If Trump just up and disappeared, Jimmy Hoffa style, would anyone look for him?

PCLL, I agree whole-heartily with every word of this, except, I fear, for the part about Trump having no shot, NO SHOT, at being elected again. I hope that's the case, but the Democrats really do need a strong, fresher candidate. As do the Republicans, for that to be a certainty.

I'm just praying that Trump gets indicted for something or other. That seems the best chance of keeping him out of power right now.

Look at it this way: Trump lost the last election and it wasn't all that close: 306-232. To win in 2024 he'd have to flip three of the states he lost last time around.

Since that election he led a murderous insurrection trying to overthrow the government. He failed. He has also gotten himself in legal trouble on a number of fronts.

So... do you think he has GAINED popularity in the past two years? Enough to flip three states?

I live in Arizona, which would almost have to be one of the states he would flip. It is traditionally Republican; Biden was the first Democrat to win here since 1996. Arizona also has the worst inflation in the country right now. In this month's election the top four statewide races all had hand-picked Trump candidates. All four of them lost, including Trump sycophant Kari Lake, who faced an incredibly weak Democratic nominee in Katie Hobbs. Meanwhile, the treasurer candidate for the Republicans was not endorsed by Trump. She won by 280,000 votes against a solid opponent.

Trump is going to campaign on 2020 being stolen. Virtually everyone who ran on that this month nationwide lost.

Trump may be nominated. He will not win a general election. Republicans behind the scenes know this but they already created the monster. The donors are showing that they're not sticking around for round three.

This thread will be filled with doom porn for the next two years, but Trump isn't winning.
