What’s Pence’s end game? He has less than no shot at holding office again. He needs to go away and lay his head on Mother’s lap and be told he’s a good boy.

I think his only upside is rehabbing his career into "respected GOP elder statesman." It is odd though, he is perfectly positioned to be the conscience of the party - admitting he was wrong, maybe the word is "vain" - enough to think he could have an influence on Trump and ending up having a front seat as Trump took a wrecking ball to the pillars of the party of "faith, freedom and a strong national defense" (and low taxes of course). It's not like he's ever going to win over the Trumpers, but he does have books to sell.

OK, but who is buying those books? Not Democrats, not MAGAts, not rank and file Republicans. Since Trump sold him out, he’s persona non grata in the political arena. Hell, his own state hates him. Go away, Mikey.

“I went with a very different approach. I was looking for people that didn’t vote, ever. I had a lot of people tell me ‘I’m 50 years old, I’ve never voted in my life, and I’m gonna vote for the first time, for you.’”

    Oy.

He's dead to MAGAT Nation because Big Daddy Fatfuck has deemed him a traitor. He's dead to everybody else because he was part of MAGAT Nation.

His political acumen has never been good. Before being tapped by Trump to be VP he was wildly unpopular in Indiana. He had pissed off both sides.

Every time I see "border" at the top of a candidate's campaign platform, I think "Trumpist." The Republican candidate had "border" at the top of her campaign platform. Anything or anyone that defeats a Trumpist for any reason is a net positive, IMO.

Mr. Ward considers himself as a libertarian socialist, according to the Daily Beast. It seems like a contradiction in terms, perhaps in a category like the Leninist "dictatorship of the proletariat." Really, the latter seems to be where Trumpists have been headed. Given a choice, I'd prefer a philosophy driven by personal freedoms and economic justice vs. one with a record of corporate benefit and personal regulation. Most Republicans don't roll that way, but I suspect a more than a few might prefer that choice. And if you look at videos of a Trump rally, much of the crowd looks more like they're attending a heavy metal concert than a country club dinner party.
