Elon Musk takes over Twitter

Seems like a lot of content creators are heading to Hive, which is being run by two guys doing their damnedest to keep the site from crashing under heavy demand. I guess they reached 1M followers yesterday.

 

Has Elon never heard of Rage Against the Machine?

 

Based on the short description on their site, it seems like a thing for teens (created by a teen). Which means teens will soon flee it in droves and find somewhere else to hang out.

 

Sounds like it's a mix of Twitter and Insta, with a little bit of MySpace thrown in through the music features.

 

I might be dumber than both, because I don't understand what was wrong with what Brandon Morse tweeted.

 

He is weakly attempting to mock Trent Reznor using his song lyrics.

That's not a NIN song. It's a Rage Against the Machine song.

 

1. Spend $44B on a business not worth anywhere close to that.
2. Immediately start letting the most toxic people use the service again.
3. Start conversations with somebody calling themselves "catturd."
4. ????
5. Profit?

 

If Twitter goes away, do social media directors' jobs go away?

 

They're all doing TikTok. Twitter doesn't actually drive anything.

Years ago we were tasked with writing pithy tweets to draw our readers in.

They eventually determined that we were wasting a ton of time, and headline tweets got about the same click-thru rate.

 

Most of our engagement is on Instagram. We have a Twitter account, but we don't use it a ton, mostly for just newsy items.
