It's Thanksgiving weekend, but this kinda feels like Christmas.

I cannot read Nathan Peterman without hearing it in Gruden’s voice.

I cannot read Nathan Peterman's name without remembering the discussion here about how if it weren't for a butterfly flapping his wings, and Peterman doesn't throw the first interception, he'd be a viable NFL qb.

And Siemian hurts his oblique in warmups, meaning Peterman starts and David Montgomery is the emergency backup. Can you score negative points in a game?

Now that he's starting, especially, I keep thinking of this.
Except the joy we see here pales in comparison to the emotion Bears fans are feeling as they watch Justin Fields start to break out as a star, and a week later they're watching Nathan Peterman start.

The NFL record for interceptions in a game is eight, by the Cardinals' Jim Hardy in 1950.
Nathan Peterman, starting for the first time in four years, for a team devoid of receivers, against a defense that leads the NFL in interceptions, and when there is not a viable backup QB available, has to put those records in play, right?

That, or they just run the ball every play.

Hey, they just traded a second-round pick for a receiver! He has to be good, right?

    :D

This is one of the few times that I regret that the casino is an hour away and there is no live betting in my state. The O/U on this game has dropped like the temperature when a strong cold front hits — two points since last night, and one point in the past hour since the Peterman news broke. It opened at 43 or 44 and is now down to 36.5.

EDIT: Just checked it again and, holy shit, it's down to 32.5. It was 38.5 late last night and 37.5 an hour ago.

Glazer reported that they took Siemian into the locker room and shot him up full of painkillers. So apparently Nathan Peterman was shitty enough in warm-ups that the Bears coaches said, "We just can't do this."

They have lost faith in his ability to throw pick sixes?
