A president who makes it about the team and the country, not himself, hmm......how refreshing.

The GOP is failing at its own game then.

Corporate money - especially tech money - aligns increasingly behind Democrats.

As for a list of people that I guess you think are true Republicans, I suppose I’d say Susan Collins, Bob Dole, Orrin Hatch, Lamar Alexander, Condi Rice…

If it’s my definition, Mitch McConnell. That’s a Republican, to me.

Why isn't Lincoln on the list? I know he died but so have Dole and Hatch.

I love how Alma proclaims corporate money is going to Dems now. I bet he even has a NYT piece to link to or something.

Of course, that story would be useless since Republicans used SCOTUS to allow unlimited dark money from individual donors.

Politics in this country is a money game, more than it ever has been, because our government controls so much of our economic lives in ways it never had before.

It's not party specific. It's corrupt. And it's circular. Getting elected to Federal public office pays someone with power, and the ability to cash it in to become wealthy if they want. But you can not get and keep that power without money. And the money it takes comes with strings attached, namely using our government to pick winners and losers. The two parties use that process to promise free stuff to various constituencies, who don't realize that what they are sanctioning is destroying the country slowly. And in the long-term we are paying a major price because, 1) the practical effect of their "policy" has come on the back of a rapidly increasing debt load that is saddling all of us now, and 2) that kind of corrupt hijacking of capital is a drag on our economy, as it diverts money from potentially more productive uses it would find if hundreds of millions of people were making decisions for themselves, and 3) limits choices and drives up costs in the areas of the economy they have taken over and mismanaged.

It's why our Federal budget alone is in the trillions of dollars, and has kept getting bigger. Which makes the stakes higher for anyone trying to get elected.

If you think one of the parties is different from the other in this regard, you are delusional.

Well, he did unnecessarily invoke the "I" word twice in his announcement. . . :)
