This album is getting lots of attention in Americana/alt country circles.

Plains is a duo of Jess Williamson, who I don’t know much about, and Katie Crutchfield of Waxahatchee. I bought the album, some really well written and performed songs.

Hoping they tour again in 2023.

When I first saw the title I anticipated a cover of this George Hamilton IV hit. But it seems like a polar opposite.

I've posted videos of Sierra Ferrell before, but I'm enchanted. Daughter of a single mom in West Virginia, she earned her chops busking around the country. Listen for the hints of Patsy Cline and Brenda Lee.

The real Waxahachie looks nothing like this.

I imagine this song with a living 49-year old John Bonham on drums in 1997 and it makes me sick.

Someone used the phrase "nothing in common" in another thread yesterday and I've had the song in my head all day, trying to remember if I liked the movie or not.

New album: Tom Petty live at the Fillmore. Recorded over a 20 day stand, 57 songs, about a third of them covers.

It's glorious. Lots of care taken on this release. I find myself grinning stupidly, my foot and leg tapping involuntarily, swept up.

So many songs that every garage band had to know back in the day. "It's all over now", "Louie Louie", "Gloria", "You really got me", "Shakin' all over", "Johnny B Goode". No "House of the Rising Sun" or "96 Tears", but still...

    Its good stuff, guys.

I've been out of the Portugal. The Man loop, but they added a female singer and she doesn't suck. Turns out she's John Gourley's SO.

Interesting intro of another track on "52nd Street," "Stiletto," then "My Life."

One of the great YouTube comments:

This whole song is basically just Curt Smith singing through anxiety and depression while Roland is having a sick rave in the background. It's honestly a masterpiece.[IMG]
