    Discussions of primaries and their order in the calendar reminded me that the system of conventions choosing candidates wasn't all bad. Trump would have never been the nominee (40 percent support in the primaries) in 2016 under a convention format (where he would have needed 66 percent to get the nomination).

    Being that primaries are contests administered by the party, the DNC could simply refuse to seat delegates New Hampshire elected before the appointed time. Michigan (and other states) tried to jump the line for primaries in 2008 and was docked delegates as a result.
